Repairs and Annealing

Annealing
With normal use a bangle will slowly "work-harden" so that the metals will slowly become stiffer and more brittle. As metals work-harden they become more likely to break. Annealing is the process of heating the metals so they once again become soft and pliable. It also serves as a way to energetically and physically to cleanse the bangle. It's good to anneal your bangle every 6 months to a year. See below for the process for annealing your bangle at home.
Bangle Repair
If your bangle has a broken strand (usually the silver will crack through first), or perhaps the copper strand has slowly been absorbed by your body chemistry, then it is time to do a bangle repair. Broken or diminished strands greatly decrease the effectiveness of the bangle. A repair is a good time to check the bangle for the correct weights of gold as well. Because the bangles use pure 24K gold, the gold is soft and small amounts can slowly be worn of with regular usage. Once your bangle is repaired it will be annealed and will be ready to be worn once again.

Annealing costs $60
Repairs start at $150
If you are mailing us your bangle, be sure to insure it for the full cost of the bangle. You are responsible for the bangle until it has been delivered to us.
Anneal your bangle at home
If you have a gas cook stove, and feel comfortable doing it, it is possible to anneal your bangle at home.
-
First, shape your bangle in a circle to roughly match the circle of flame on the burner on your stove.
-
Then heat the bangle on high for one minute directly on the grate of the stove.
-
Using metal tongs or utensils, move the bangle to a bath of white vinegar. The bangle will cool quickly and should feel more pliable.
-
You can buff the bangle with a cotton cloth.
This is a good way to do a maintenance level of annealing. It is still a good idea to occasionally get an annealing done with a torch.
